2009 Hall of Fame
2009 has been an amazing year for the Nonsense Society. Thanks to all who have supported it and watched it grow. With a redesign within touching distance, the Society is poised and ready to bring new artists, authors, musicians, and filmmakers into it’s ranks. We love your creativity. It is a veritable high to be able to take a photograph and then have that memory become tangible. In a world that has experienced so much hardship, I think we are all seeking for beauty in some way, shape or form. I also think that, overwhelmed by our fast-paced society, we sometimes overlook the simple beauty that is all around us, the beauty that is LIFE. I want my photos to make you feel something real- joy, fear, awe, confusion, serenity, love, anger… and I hope that if you glance through my lens you will discover that beauty really is everywhere if you would only take the time to look and see.”

Elderly in Photography
After the recent popularity of Women in Photography I was approached with many complaints that the collection only showcased photographs of young, skinny, white women. This was distressing to me because I believe there is beauty in all people. Therefore I was inspired to search the internet and find more examples of extraordinary photographers and photographs. I would like to share some of the best images I found of elderly people and promote the photographers who took them. Please share any more photographers or photographs in the comments.

Effective Uses of Vibrant Color
One of my favorite tricks in Photoshop is to go straight to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation and desaturate. I know I am not alone in this. However, you and I may be digging ourselves into a deep hole of desaturated boredom. Artists should take every opportunity to experiment with color. The following is a showcase to wow and inspire you to use color to its full potential. Enjoy.
Two Teenage Girls Leaving Their Mark On Photography
I recently received submissions from Sarah Rose Smiley and Megan Breukelman. They are both 15-years-old and their work just blew me away! It just goes to show you that talent knows no age. I can only imagine where these two will be in ten years after they have more education and experience. Below you will find a short interview and showcase of each of their works. I was most impressed by Megan and Sarah’s confidence from our conversations. They know who they are, what they are capable of, and what they want. That’s why they succeed! The Line Between Art and Pornography
A lot of people are scared to enjoy art that incorporates nudity. When is it pornography and when is it art? The truth is, the human body is a wonderful and beautiful thing. When captured in the right light it is most definitely art! If the artist or photographer is focusing on the beauty of the body, intimacy, or making a statement it is art. It is easy to determine if the purpose of the composition is just SEX. Art can be sexy and that doesn’t necessarily make it pornography. Need clarification? The following are gorgeous examples of nudity as art, not pornography.
