Young Photographer Series: Bethany Grace (17)

“Everyone has created or is creating beauty, in whatever way they please, and I can’t get enough of it!” – Bethany Grace

Young Photographer Series: Julia Trotti (18)

“Sitting in the sky, breathing sunspots, I hope my photography takes me to capturing musicians who I’ve been listening to for years, shooting for magazines and creating pieces of art that light up in the bug-eyes of today’s youth and inspires them to create.” - Julia Trotti

Stop Motion Animation by Marissa

The Nonsense Society sees new submissions all the time, but what is it exactly that makes the cut? What stands out? When it comes down to it, we are all about creativity. We crave new ideas and raw talent. This post features stop motion animation by long-time Society Member and close friend, Marissa Grossi. Marissa consistently demonstrates incredible talent and creativity in her art. We have chosen to recognize her here.

Young Photographer Week: Lyka Orhel

“Photography for me is a work of art. It is when you freeze a moment and try to capture it with just one click. You are freezing a moment in time while time itself moves on and the moment disappears.” -Lyka Orhel

Young Photographer Week: Sarah Howe

“Photography to me is capturing the world through a lens as realistically as if it were through my own eyes. I strive to capture it how it is, and then adjust it to express what it means to me.” - Sarah Howe

Young Photographer Week: Julia Wang

julia-wang-banner“Photography for me is a way of stopping time and immortalizing everything I see around me, with a simple click of a shutter. I also see it as a way of preserving life, history, and culture. Born and raised in an “ideal” American suburb, I’ve never had much taste of the world around me. There are more than 6 billion people in this world, and I want to know how their lives are like. With photography, you can capture the beauty of life and keep it forever. There is only so much you can do with writing, the rest you have to see with your eyes.”

- Julia Wang

Effective Uses of Vibrant Color

One of my favorite tricks in Photoshop is to go straight to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation and desaturate. I know I am not alone in this. However, you and I may be digging ourselves into a deep hole of desaturated boredom. Artists should take every opportunity to experiment with color. The following is a showcase to wow and inspire you to use color to its full potential. Enjoy.

Two Teenage Girls Leaving Their Mark On Photography

I recently received submissions from Sarah Rose Smiley and Megan Breukelman. They are both 15-years-old and their work just blew me away! It just goes to show you that talent knows no age. I can only imagine where these two will be in ten years after they have more education and experience. Below you will find a short interview and showcase of each of their works. I was most impressed by Megan and Sarah’s confidence from our conversations. They know who they are, what they are capable of, and what they want. That’s why they succeed! We can all learn something from these girls. If you know of any other young artists feel free to share in the comments.
