Young Photographer Series: Julia Trotti (18)

“Sitting in the sky, breathing sunspots, I hope my photography takes me to capturing musicians who I’ve been listening to for years, shooting for magazines and creating pieces of art that light up in the bug-eyes of today’s youth and inspires them to create.” - Julia Trotti

Young Photographer Week: Andy McMaster

“Photography means that I can be myself! It means that I can not only make sense of all those ideas in my head but also be involved with fashion. I can create those images I see when I close my eyes! I can be different. I suppose I was never your normal child… always reading the fashion magazines over other childhood books, never playing in the park, and rather playing with my camera. I was hooked from a very young age! Then about 18 months ago my father paid a model to model for me. That’s when everything felt right! My love of fashion and photography became one! It was then and there that I knew what I wanted to do! Hopefully, one day it will mean that I can shoot for our major fashion icons!”

- Andy McMaster

Young Photographer Week: Lyka Orhel

“Photography for me is a work of art. It is when you freeze a moment and try to capture it with just one click. You are freezing a moment in time while time itself moves on and the moment disappears.” -Lyka Orhel

Effective Uses of Vibrant Color

One of my favorite tricks in Photoshop is to go straight to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation and desaturate. I know I am not alone in this. However, you and I may be digging ourselves into a deep hole of desaturated boredom. Artists should take every opportunity to experiment with color. The following is a showcase to wow and inspire you to use color to its full potential. Enjoy.

Portrait Photography: Where Black And White Is Right

I have always been a fan of black and white photography, but there are instances where it makes or breaks a picture. The following collection of photos contains some amazing examples of black and white portrait photography. By taking out the color of a picture, it allows the viewer to concentrate on other aspects of the composition. Sometimes color can get in the way. These pictures would no doubt be less inspiring and beautiful if they had color. Enjoy this gorgeous showcase.

Instances of Breathtaking Creativity 2

Out there in the world are artists who see things. I mean, really see things. These people can transform everyday life into breathtaking art. In order to do this you must ignore boundaries in your mind so that you may see how one part of something can blend into something else. Once you see the vision you must then make the smooth transition between ideas. That’s the trick, isn’t it? Other instances of breathtaking creativity involve conveying a vivid feeling, idea, or statement through an image. These artists have done just that, making a stunning composition. I challenge you to feel nothing while looking at these works. Good luck. This is the second in a series of two compilations. Be sure to check out the first installment of Instances of Breathtaking Creativity as well.
