Young Artist Showcase: Distorted, Overlapping Portraits by Wendy Asumadu (17, United Kingdom)

Wendy Asumadu

Wendy Asumadu creates beautiful overlapping portraits using photography and mixed media elements. They are bright and uplifting to look at with a touch of odd. Keep in mind that all of the pieces were built from only a handful of individual shots.

Words from the Artist

My name is Wendy Asumadu. I’m 17 years old and very passionate about photography/styling.

I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of distortion. I’ve been attached to the ambiguity, the risks and the beauty of it.

Long story, cut short however….I wanted this photography to be really experimental and free and this is what I created after two months of developments of the concept of portraiture, distortion, colour and the use of manipulation.
