Against All Odds by Phil Collins

How can you just walk away from me when all I can do is watch you leave?

Warning Sign by Coldplay

When the truth is,
I miss you.
Yeah the truth is,
That I miss you so.

Dreaming With A Broken Heart by John Mayer

Wondering was she really here?
Is she standing in my room?
No she’s not,
’cause she’s gone, gone, gone, gone, gone…

I Just Don’t Think I’ll Ever Get Over You by Colin Hay

I don’t want you thinking I’m unhappy.
What is closer to the truth
That if I lived till I was 102
I just don’t think I’ll ever get over you.

Gone Gone Gone by John Ralston

Babe if we should meet again way on down the road,
do me this one favor and pretend we never knowed.
I’ll say that you remind me of a girl I knew so long ago,
But now she’s gone, gone, gone.

Pretend by Secondhand Serenade

So please
Let me be free from you.
And please,
Let me be free
I can face the truth.

I Can’t Make You Love Me by Bonnie Raitt

I’ll close my eyes then I won’t see the love you don’t feel when you’re holding me.
Morning will come and I’ll do what’s right.
Just give me till then to give up this fight and I will give up this fight.

You Were Meant For Me by Jewel

Dreams last for so long
even after you’re gone.
I know you love me
And soon you will see
You were meant for me
And I was meant for you.

Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinéad O’Connor

Since you been gone I can do whatever I want.
I can see whomever I choose.
I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant,
But nothing, I said, nothing can take away these blues.

Look Away by Chicago

When you called me up this morning,
Told me ’bout the new love you found,
Im said Im happy for you,
Im really happy for you.

But if you see me walking by,
And the tears are in my eyes,
Look away, baby, look away.

Never Let You Go by Third Eye Blind

You say that I’ve changed.
Well maybe I did,
But even if I changed
Whats wrong with it?
I never let you go…

Fuck It by Eamon

Fuck what I said it don’t mean shit now.
Fuck the presents might as well throw em’ out.
Fuck all those kisses they didn’t mean jack.
Fuck you, you ho I don’t want you back.

A song that never gets mentioned, but should be is called “Never Again” from Justin Timberlake. It was produced and co-written with Brian McKnight from JT’s first album.

Uh, Nothing Compares 2 U is by Prince if you’re going to cite lyrics as justification.

bad, unrelated video, but amazing song. one of the few dream theater ever made that I actually liked. plus, it has a huge, huge, huge relevance to me. yesterday I came out of my first relationship, 11 months long. I still possess a good amount of naivety.. but damn..

The only really really good song on this list is I Just Don’t Think I’ll Ever Get Over You by Colin Hay. Not Nice by Chris Garneau is really good, What Went Wrong by Blink 182 isn’t musically wonderful but it will surely make you weep, and anything by The National is wonderful

I’m going with Untouchable Face by Ani Difranco

    So f*** you
    And your untouchable face
    And f*** you
For existing in the first place
    And who am I
That I should be vying for your touch
    And who am I
I bet you can’t even tell me that much
