Because time is cyclical, the present can be seen as a simultaneous collection of past events. Nootrac calls this time the Ultra-Past, which includes everything from the rise of single-celled organisms to last Thursday. Roman Centurions, shag carpeting, Druids, and wooden shoes all coexist in the Ultra-Past.
Drawing from these elements, Nootrac creates music with a timeless feel. Accordingly, the music for “Citizens of the Ultra-Past” incorporates banjos, Japanese lutes, traditional African chants and teeth-rattling, true-school hip-hop. The lyrics are densely crafted poetry, completely devoid of trite, vulgar consumerism and faux-gangster bravado.
Welcome to the Ultra-Past.

I absolute love both of these songs. All the rhyming, alliteration, and flow of it is incredible. It’s rap with some literary fusion to it. Dig it!
