Heart of the Merlion

The Merlion is a creature from Singaporean myth with the head of a lion and the body of a fish. ChanLing’s use of the pentatonic scale is in respect to his friends and family from Singapore. Heart of the Merlion is a beautiful tribute to ChanLing’s second home.

Written for high school friend, Tiane, after she committed suicide at a young age. The major key ending the piece signifies how Tiane lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.

    Wow i really enjoy these tracks, specifically because I feel that the titles given to these really expresses what the artist has to say about it. My favorite is “Journey on High”. Well done!
